"Shower the people you love with love!"

The weekend and week has gone rather well. I still have VT assignments and handouts to deliver and 10 birthday cards to finish but all and all it's been ok, except for the headaches UGH!

Anyway, I gathered a bunch of suggestions about showing love on Valentines Day for a handout for Evening Relief Society. I don't believe any of the ideas are copyrighted, At least I hope not! Many of the ideas came from Sugardoodle.com and Rootsandwings.com. I thought I might just pass them along. Now is the time to get started! Valentines will be here very soon!

I wish I'd taken pictures of all the projects and samples I made (cookies and lollipops with Beck's help). But I didn't. I hope this inspires someone to do a little more to "Shower the people you love with love!"

Happy Valentines! Celebrate!

Heart Attack cover the door or the front lawn with all kinds of hearts and a sign-“You've been(heart) ATTACKED”

Showered with kisses-pour a bag of Hershey kisses on the bed or table and add the note “I have showered you kisses” (see Mom for some real ones?)

Heart Shaped cookies-are always nice for telling others they are loved. Double layer cookies with the heart shaped center cut out, and fill with jam or chocolate are extra special.

Lollipops-with candy hearts and flowers can be arranged in a flower arrangement. You can also decorate them with paper and buttons or jewels.

Pillow Cases are the best!-They are the simplest sewing project possible. You need 3 pieces of 45” fabric, 26 “, 9” and 4” wide for the total of 1 yard. Layer them 9” wrong side down, 26” right side down, then 4” folded in half on top. Pin them evenly along the edge. Roll 26” up (so it doesn't get caught while sewing) and pull 9” around and pin to the stack. Sew across them all at one time and pull right side out. Fold in half and sew along two unfinished sides.

Homemade Valentines-use your imagination and anything crafty

School Valentines-those little things-are also good for neighbors, friends, visiting teachers or teachees. Let your kids (or husband if you have one) deliver them.

Secret Admirer-this is especially good for parents-sneak out the back door and leave something on the front step, knock and run. Then come in the back while the kids are running for the door. Be sure you sign it from your secret admirer. The kids will catch on eventually-but still look forward to “mom's box of candy”. Or you can order two identical flower arrangements and send both to your loved one-on the same day. sign one "Your Wife and the other "Your secret admirer" At least they will have to carry both out of the building and maybe have some 'splaining to do. Ha!

Pancakes-pink, of course, can be made into hearts or initials. Even milk can be turned pink.
Decorate!-Cover everything with hearts, Make special hanging hearts. Cut 4 strips of paper the same length for each heart. Do them in multiples for even more interest.

Jars-Use your decorated jar for good deeds that show love or complements. When established in FHE the contest can be used to demonstrate how much love we have in our home/why I love you.

Books-read special books or even make them. Cheap ones can be found at the dollar store or Seagull Book

A Week of Kindness-like the 12 Days of Christmas-choose someone and do a service for them each day-or leave them a treat. “By love serve one another” Gal 5:13 Fun FHE can be made out of this.

An Understanding Heart-from Bright Impressions uses scriptures and is really ok for even older kids. Also on sale for $1 at Seagull book.

Special Dishes-if you have any red dishes this is a great time to use them-fun paper plates will ad to the atmosphere as well! Try white dishes with a red tablecloth (plastic is good!)
Notes-those little unexpected reminder is always nice-you can even write on food with special markers.
